Lamentations of the Suffering (non-Magical ranged attacks automatically miss when he is camping a focus)
Flesh is Weak (RNG 8 POW 12 AOE 4 Models hit cannot Run or charge?)
Enemy Models in CTRL suffer -2DEF.
When an enemy model in CTRL is boxed by a ranged or melee attack, RFP that model. Place a 4″ AoE on the model boxed and every enemy model under the template takes a POW12 fire damage roll.
Very good actually. His feat is amazing. Tons of upkeeps (two of which are SELF), so watch out for Purification, although Lamentation can out right stop that. With all the RFP he brings, he’ll be an easy one to drop on certain match-ups. Death March is an amazing spell anyway and is even more amazing in Protectorate. I’ve already got a couple of list ideas brewing in the noggin.
As our League was winding down, we held two painting competitions, one at 15 points, the other at 35, and opened up the voting to the public over at the Privateer Press Forums. If you remember I posted about it encouraging everyone to go and vote.
Well I’m extremely happy to report that I won one of them! At the 15 point level, my epic Feora force took home the gold..erm…gift certificate with over 50% of the votes! Wowzas! These winnings have bought me eeKreoss whenever he comes out!
My 35 point entry didn’t fare as well, but I place some of the blame on the quality of the picture. It was admittedly taken in haste, and as was pointed out by some in our group, it washes out the colors. But I really shouldn’t complain, we had some really great entries at this level, and the winning entry is a really great looking force on the table (I know, I’ve faced off against it).
This is really great in that this is just after a year in the hobby! I’m putting together a post that takes a look at various models I’ve painted from the beginning up to now, as a sort of “look how I’ve grown” or retrospective post. Be on the look out for that in the coming week!
Last weekend I went to Huzzah Hobbies in Ashburn to play some non-competitive, easy going games. I don’t usually go to this store and I now know why. It’s crazy far from me. Oh well, some of my group regulars were there that day, just shooting the breeze, painting and playing. Some practicing for the upcoming Nova Open.
Anyway, Kevin managed to take some awesome pictures of my warcasters that I brought along. These pics came out better than what my camera will ever take. Enjoy!
The night before I had just pretty much finished Vindictus minus a few details and basing. I think he’ll be seeing a lot more tabletop from me.
I was able to finish this guy in just one night (barring grass on the base but I’m waiting to finish a few more so I can knock them out at once) and I think he’s come out really, really good. I’d wager he’s easily above “tabletop quality.” Now what that tells me is that either I’m getting faster or I’m getting better at this painting thang. Or both. It also doesn’t hurt that this Menoth scheme, minus the gold parts, is very easy to execute quickly and it even looks really good on the table if I do say so meself.
Reznik was originally my first choice for Protectorate warcaster when I was deciding on a faction nearly a year ago. In fact I considered doing his theme force. In the end I decided to go with an eKreoss theme force (more info on that conversion coming soon) but then I got lucky on bartertown and now I have both!
This Thursday will be my first night using him, so I will add more thoughts then, but at first glance he looks to be a ‘focused’ ‘jack caster. Meaning unlike Amon who supports all his warjacks at once, Reznik seems to support them individually and allows for some crazy out of activation movement. I bet he loves the Reckoner. Hmmm…I think I have one lying around here somewhere…
