Storm before the calm?

2 out of 5 ain't bad I guess...
Super IKRPG Bros. 2 out of 5 ain’t bad I guess…

Above is a pic from last night’s IKRPG session.  Zac got his PC painted up and it looks ace!  Now that leaves just 3 more before I can get that group picture…

I know I’ve been lax in updating these past few months. Part of that was just life in general and recently it’s been because I’ve been swamped in commission work.  Not that I’m complaining. It is what funds this addiction hobby.  I have 3 that are in the homestretch at the moment, I hope to have them all done by no later than this Saturday.

After those are done, I’m going to take some time to focus on my own army mans, like getting my Legion Rearguard ready for the Slow Grow/Journeyman league that usually hits during the summer months. That way whenever it begins, all the prep work like priming, making bases, pinning, greenstuffing, etc, is all done and all I have to do is just pick up and paint.

I also have another little project I have in the works that I’m taking at a very slow pace…

Oh yes.

[IKRPG] My custom model is 80-ish % done…

I’ve posted this pic to the forums and other sites, figured I may as well post it here!

Going off my last post about him, I’m finally started to put paintbrush to model as my giddiness to get him done overcame me.  He’s pretty much done at the moment.  The last remaining items are a custom tattoo I’m going to be doing on the right arm and painting the cloth that hangs at his waist.  I’m not quite sure what color to paint that…My original intent was a darker red, but I also may just do it in the Sanguine that I use throughout the figure to avoid bringing too much color into the model…

We’ll see, but he’s going to definitely be finished and sealed for our next IKRPG night!

[IKRPG] My character model WIP & some artwork!

Tonight is Chapter 6 of our ongoing IKRPG game!

The story is really starting to gain some intrigue and I’m excited to see where it is all going.  I feel like I am starting to get the hang of RPGing finally.  But this post isn’t really about that, it’s about Rohan, my character!

Our GM sent us a character questionnaire over the weekend which I think was a great boon for getting into not only the story a bit more as it gave us a chance to really flesh out our character’s backstory, but get in the mindset so to speak of our characters.  It also really got me hooked on finally starting to put together my character’s model.  Up until this point I have been using whatever assassin-ish model has been available, notably one of my Nyss Hunters.  That was all well and good (as I love my Nyss Hunters and the paint job I did on them), but I really wanted to make myself a unique model.  That’s half the fun right?

Lots of text and pics follow, including some character art drawn by yours truly!

A quick shot from my IKRPG game…

Hawk's Urban IKRPG board
Just a small set up for us…

I just wanted to share this quick pic I snapped Monday night at our IKRPG night that just started up.  Unfortunately, our GM is really not into it that much…I mean he only put together this ridiculous urban board to represent Riversmet complete with sound effects, music, and props…sigh…I guess this will do…

This game actually started like 5ish months ago, but real life got into the way and had to be postponed until now.  We intend on meeting now about every other Monday.  I actually had an idea of creating a series on this blog of each of our sessions, like a chapter of a book after each session.  Each one would be written from my character’s perspective and feature some hand-drawn/painted art.  What do you think?  Since that’s in the works, I’ll hold off on what actually happened for now.  I will say this takes place 2-3 years after our first session and we have gained a player.

My IKRPG custom mini: Rohan of the Frozen Blade Shard

Like the title says, this is just a quick post to show off the IKRPG mini I’m working on.

Sadly the campaign was put on hiatus due to real life getting in the way, which is why I haven’t progressed this guy faster than I should have.

Oh well. Don’t mind the blue tack!  He’s missing his claymore and that blob around his neck is signifying a fur collar.  What do you all think?

Ski’s IKRPG Character Sheet Generator pretty much does the heavy lifting for you! Check it out! [UPDATED]

Created using Ski's IKRPG character generator!
Here’s a sample sheet I generated for another character I’m working on (more posts regarding him incoming).

EDIT 7/9/2014: The sheet is being maintained here now!

And the good IKRPG stuff keeps coming!  Forum member ski_anderson has created this excel character generator for the IKRPG and it.is.FAN-friggin-TASTIC!

It’s so simple to use!  You just open the file in Excel, select a few dropboxes to make your choices and it generates a character sheet for you!  Granted some of the spell and ability descriptions are missing, as well as item costs, but seriously there is so much stuff in this thing I’m sure no one can complain about having to do a little bit of looking up.

The Iron Kingdoms just got that much easier to jump into.  Download it here.

Per Request: Fill-able IKRPG Character Sheets!

As requested by follow time sinker blackbeardfreelance  on my post about my IKRPG experience, below are the fillable character sheets (in PDF form) I used.  This will handle all the calculations for you, as well as being easier to read/quicker to fill out in game.

Just download them and use a pdf program to fill them out.  I highly recommend Foxit PDF Reader, as aside from being a better pdf reader IMO than Adobe, it will also allow you to save them, something Adobe Reader does not let you do.

Also it should be noted that I can’t take the credit for making these, as I found them on PP’s forum.  I started to make one, but they just beat me to it 😉

Enjoy!

My first RPG experience or: How we went to Llael & got wrapped up in a mystery.

Last Thursday I had my first RPG experience.  I’ve always known of D&D but have never played it or thought of playing it.  But then this here Warmachine thing came into my life and it’s safe to say I’m hooked.  So when PP announced that they were doing an RPG set in the Iron Kingdoms and was heavily influenced by the game mechanics-wise, I jumped into the first group we had!

So how was our adventure? Pics and my character sheets follow!
