This is awesome, I love this kind of stuff. I guess I’m obligated to tell you that the artist also has propaganda posters for Khador and Cygnar you can check out as well. But then again, I’m also obligated to tell you that you’ll be wracked for doing so. No biggie, your call.

A Golden Age Dawns for the True Faith!
[Slow Grow 2013] A flock needs a Shepard!
After reading about Plarzoid’s plan’s for his Highlander lists for the first weeks of Slow Grow, it got me thinking about mine.
Now I don’t have a ton of models to choose from as far as Legion goes, but this format shouldn’t prove a problem for me. The biggest issue I would have had was the one light/heavy beasts as I only have 3, one of whom is a character which I think is not allowed (Typhon). I had originally planned on doing:
Rhyas
- -Scythean
- -Nephilim Soldier
- Minimum Warmongers
- War Chief
The problem with that is I thought the Soldier was 4 points when he’s actually 5, which puts me 1 point over…Welp, time to switch it up and paint up some of my other solos I have availible, either the Succubus or the Shepard. I’m sure you’ve guessed which one I chose.
I’m super happy with how she’s coming out. I just need to finish her feathers and belt buckles. At first she was really kind of intimidating due to her size and all those little details. Plus I had no idea on the color scheme yet for any other models besides Ogruns. But I just dived in and next thing I know here she is, almost completed. Enjoy the pics!
Oh and I should be getting my bases in the mail soon, so I can finally ‘complete’ some models and make them playable!
Gallery Time!
[Slow Grow 2013] Ogruns, take two.
After showing you my previous attempts at Ogrun, I went back to the drawing board (kinda) and reworked the skin on them this past weekend. Behold the fruits of my labors!
And now for something completely different: Ten Thunders!
With one of my friends very excited for the v2.0 of Malifaux that is coming out soon, he convinced me to pick up a few models to go in with him.
Now I’ve never played Malifaux. All I know is that you use cards instead of dice. So I have nothing of note to offer you on that front. My biggest problem with it wass that the models never really screamed out to me. I just didn’t like the sculpts. Now it seems that they are moving to plastics and with that, a better look to the models that I approve more of.
Anyway, as you may have already guessed I went with the newest faction: Ten Thunders. Why? Because ninjas.
These models I guess are their new plastic ones and they are actually really nice. They have the proper proportions that I like so they look like they would in real life. But man, they are a massive pain in the ass to assemble. But the fits were actually very, very clean and flash was at the barest of minimums (something Privateer Press struggles with on their plastics).
They’ll be done soon enough (well probably after my Legion of Everblight) as it’s only 7 models and they are all very small and then I’ll be checking out the beta with to see what all the hubbub is about.
So some crazy/lucky guy played Convergence of Cyriss at Lock & Load…
Just had to share this because this…is dedication. And awesome.
The Soapbox Gamer played Convergence of Cyriss at Lock and Load, in both the Iron Guantlet and Hardcore events! Yes, the events that require fully painted army lists. Why yes, Convergence of Cyriss was available only at Lock and Load as an early release.
Check out how he and his crew pulled off this herculean feat of painting stamina and how he fared in the events!
Oh and the force looks great! Has a similar scheme to what I’d do if I ever got into Convergence.
The trouble with Ogruns…
Moving on from the Nephilim Soldier featured earlier this week, let’s talk Ogruns and the trouble I’m having with mine.
The reasons for working on an Ogrun model and the Nephilim at the same time I explained in a post long ago (basically the two have all the elements I need to try out). Originally I went with the warchief but for whatever reason switched it up to this warmonger grunt.
Nephilim Soldier done, Scythean started!
Just wanted to share the work I was able to do on the Nephilim Soldier last night. He’s pretty much done at the moment and I’m very happy with the result. In fact, it’s emboldened me to push on. This is 5 points down, 45 to go!
Still undecided on what to do as far as basing though. I did have an idea when I remembered that my mom has one of these hanging up in her house. I was going to swing by on the weekend anyway, but now I think I’ll also try and get a mold of it made with some insta-mold and then make a cast that I’ll smash to chunks. Thoughts?
Also, I have some pics of the Scythean I started on. The first week of the Slow Grow/Journeyman (never know which is the right one to call it) culminates in a 15pt Highlander event, which means I need one of every model type. I have the Nephilim Soldier as my light, the Scythean as my heavy warbeast (as the other in the list is Typhon and I don’t think characters are permitted), Swordsmen or warmongers (probably Warmongers) as my unit, and either a Shepard or a War chief (probably the War Chief) as my solo. Rhyas as my warlock of course.
Talkin’ about Ogruns tomorrow!
Breaking back out the Legion for Slow Grow 2013!
Well kinda…
I believe it actually starts on July 8th or so, but I found out (or probably forgot) that anything painted since January counts for this year’s Journeyman League. Not sure if that means all that I’ve painted, or just what I’d doing for the Journeyman…either way, it’s time to break back out the Legion of Everblight!!
Whole lotta pics ahead…
Pureblood Warpwolf work in progress shot.
This weekend I worked a bit on some of my Circle stuff. This is more of a pet (eh? eh?) project for me, so I’m not rushing through it and I’m being very particular of my work (more so than usual).
I wanted to share with you all a quick WIP shot of the Pureblood Warpwolf and get your feedback on it. I’m not sure I 100% like how it came out. My process was to coat the whole thing in a regal-ish blue, then highlight with P3 Frostbite, then finally with P3 Morrow White. I was trying to give him a ghostly, icy feel, but I think I over did it on the white. I also think I should have maybe done a layer in between the blue and frostbite.
What are your thoughts?
I also worked on some bases for them using a basing kit I recently picked up and will review from Secret Weapon, here’s a sneak peek:
